Thom’s Lawn Care was created unofficially many years ago here in Smithfield. I was just 12 years old or so and needed some encouragement to keep going. My dad would help out a lot in those days, even to the point of going out while I was at scout camp or some other commitment. We would work together quite a bit to get the jobs done. When I was 19 I chose to serve a mission for my church for 2 years. I left things behind in good hands, with my dad and others to keep things going.

All of our success is a result of many good influences and relationships that have paid off. Starting with my family and their support to the many great employees who have dedicated so much time and effort to our work.

Today I still live in Smithfield. My wife Emily and I have 5 boys that make life super interesting and fun. I dreamed at times that this would work, and we could make a life doing it, but things have surpassed that original dream.

I have a lot of bad habits, one being involved on our family farm. Along the way I couldn’t see how I could balance that time in the summers with my work and the work on the farm. To my surprise, it has been a nice blend of being at work with the guys to going to the farm with my kids and dad. Really, I couldn’t ask for more.
